The Sandberg is 339 m high and, with its lookout tower, offers an excellent view of Retz, the Pulkautal, Wartberg, etc.
The area around the Sandberg - in the area from Platt to Roselsdorf - has been inhabited for over 7000 years and includes the largest Celtic settlement in Austria.
Next to the observation tower is the "Celtic drinking fountain", there is no water here, but it is used to cool wine, mineral water and lemonade, which you can take yourself for a fee (box).
The Celtic settlement of Sandberg is the largest Celtic settlement and the oldest mint in Austria, as well as the Celtic settlement with the most Celtic sanctuaries of all.
