The road goes around a small hill with views of Sepúlveda known as the Saddle of Mounting a Horse and goes down to the Palmarejos bridge, on the Caslilla river. The ascent is well paved by old paths that avoid the road, passes through the medieval gates of Castro and Duruelo and in a kilometer and a half reaches the entrance of the Casa del Parque, in the church of Santiago, the reception center of visitors and information on the protected area. At some times of the year there are restrictions on access to the interior of the canyon for the protection of birds or by number of people and it is advisable to consult. And also to expand information on the protected area. The trail passes by the tourist office, next to the old prison, and continues through the Plaza Mayor, touring the historic center. In the square there are porticoes typical of Castilian squares, stately facades and on one side is the castle, which marks the line of the old walls. The building is of Arab origin and has undergone reforms from later centuries, up to a baroque façade from the 18th century. In Sepúlveda there are five Romanesque churches, highlighting the church of San Salvador, from the 11th century, the oldest Romanesque building in the province of Segovia. The route continues along Carrer de la Barbacana and crosses the Ecce Homo gate. The Senda de los Dos Ríos reaches the church of the Virgen de la Peña, the trail turns before onto a paved road that leaves to the left and leads directly to the Puerta de la Fuerza.
