De Schans Castle or Schanshof Castle is a castle in the Belgian sub-municipality of Opoeteren, near the hamlet of Dorne.
The presumed construction date of the current castle can be found in a brick in a facade that mentions the year 1667.
The de Selys (or de Selijs) family, the first owners of the castle, stayed there until 1840. Michael de Selys, mayor of Liège and resident of Opoeteren, was the principal. At the same time he was lord of the seigniory of Opoeteren, which he had received in pledge from the Prince-Bishop Ferdinand of Bavaria in 1619.
The castle's name refers to the Dornerschans, a redoubt existing in 1636, to which the population of nearby Dorne could retreat in times of danger. The castle was built on the site of this redoubt.
Since 1994, a course center of the same name has been established on the domain, offering courses, training, and training in the field of personal development.
