      In 1251, Knight Steinmar von Sießen-Strahlegg gifted his town house at Bogengasse 15 in Saulgau to the convent of the Sisters of Sulegen. In 1260, he gifted his estate in Süessen and the patronage rights of the local church to the Dominican nuns of Sulgay. The Wendelinus Chapel and hermitage on the Sießen footpath were built in 1386.

      In 1632/34, the monastery was plundered and burned by the Swedes.

      In 1716/22, the monastery buildings were rebuilt in the Baroque style by the Vorarlberg architect Franz Beer von Au.

      The monastery was dissolved in 1803 during the secularization. The Prince of Thurn and Taxis received the Dominican convent's property and the Wendelinus Chapel.

      Since 1860, the buildings have been used as a convent by the Franciscan nuns of Sießen.
