The Slack is a small coastal river, which flows into the sea, near Fort Ambleteuse.
Although modest today, the Slack was much more imposing in the past, when the gravel was mined near the fort. At the time of the Camp de Boulogne, between 1803 and 1805, Napoleon had even thought of bringing his fleet here. Suffice to say that the Slack was something else!

Historic locks of the narrow old canal, almost overgrown. Great view from the bridge along the length of the canal toward the coast, and from Le Touquet to Sainte-Cecile. Stairs lead down to explore the ancient locks and pass under the bridge.

beautiful walk with departure and arrival at the fort of Ambleteuse. At low tide you can wade through the river at the height of the fort.
