From a bizarre idea by Laurent Delphin (military commander in Briançon) this oriental-style park with a Japanese-style bridge, a pond with an artificial island and a pagoda was born in 1815. It subsequently arose near an industrial area for silk processing which was then abandoned and currently still in full decay apart from the walkway that can be walked over the old aqueduct. A picturesque walk in the countryside along the Durance which earned a gold medal in 1830 from the Royal Agricultural Society.
