The huge cathedral with its detailed bell tower is probably the most striking building in the city. The Gothic Cathedral of St. Nicholas was built in several stages between 1283 and 1490. The top of the bell tower can be climbed via a spiral staircase. The view from up there is breathtaking. In 1924 the original minster became the cathedral of the diocese of Lausanne, Geneva and Fribourg.
Construction of the cathedral began in 1283 and there was no mess here. The result is a very beautiful cathedral with a fantastic view from the bell tower.
