803/826 The first mentions of a church in Ragaz date back to the years 803 (Churer Urbar) and 826 (proclamation by Bishop Victor).
843 The church of Ragaz is mentioned in the Codex Sangallensis 609 of the St. Gallen Abbey Library.
1209 St. Pankratius is mentioned for the first time as the patron saint of the church. Saint Pankraz died as a martyr in Rome in 304. He is considered the protector of oaths and is one of the 14 helpers in times of need. He was the patron saint of the Ragaz parish until 1702.
1703 The current church is built under Abbot Bonifaz Tschupp I. Coat of arms above the main portal. The pastor is Dean Melchior Weber, who bears the main burden of the costs. Master builder Ulrich Lang, Sargans. Carvers: Master Rosenkranz, Hans Jakob Locher, Johannes Kolhaupt, Franz Bislin. Choir stalls: Johann Müller from Feldkirch.
1952/53 Exterior renovation. Redesign of the tower in its current form. Expansion of the sacristy. New construction of the vestibule. 1993/1994 Complete restoration. The main changes were the new underfloor heating and the new tiled floor, removal of the wood paneling and reconstruction of the pilaster bases. The exterior of the church was refreshed.
