The village Haldarsvík is the starting point for the hike to Saksun.
The distance is about 8km and the hike is indicated with 3-4h.
The trail is still relatively easy to see below. It runs along a stone wall to a small gate where the first pile of stones stands. Such cairns mark the way from here.
Shortly before the summit of the mountain Vikartindur the cairns are very difficult to find. The relatively seldom used path in any case runs left on the mountain Vikartindur over on a small hill. From there you can barely see the next pile of stones down in the valley. From there it is relatively steep down the hill until you get back to the more visited trail.
On this hike, you should definitely take enough food, as there is no catering option on the way. In addition, you should bring warm and windproof and waterproof clothing, as the weather changes very quickly.
