The Place de l'Hôtel-de-Ville, designed by Perret, is one of the largest in Europe. The harmonious whole consists of three-storey buildings with roof terraces, alternating with 10-storey tower blocks. The square is decorated with ponds, fountains and galleries covered with yew arches and hornbeams. At the center is a memorial: the "two wounded birds" by the sculptor Adam symbolize the deportations and the resistance.

Le Havre at the Seine estuary is the largest city in Normandy and known for the large seaport.
During the Second World War, the city was badly damaged and subsequently rebuilt in a uniform style. The main responsible for the reconstruction of the entire city was the architect Auguste Perret. From him also comes the town hall with the 72 meter high tower and the largest town square in Europe.
