The church still preserves the large rose window, two stone single-lancet windows on the left side and the prestigious stone baptismal font from the medieval period.
The church was built in the 11th century, destroyed by an earthquake in 1627 and rebuilt; the bell tower dates from the 18th century, when the original Romanesque building was extended by two side aisles. The magnificent façade dates from 1872. It contains relics of St. Severus.
