            The Kiellinie begins at the Seeburg behind the Ostseekai. Since 2014 it has ended in the Kiel-Wik district. On the land side it is lined by a row of boathouses belonging to rowing clubs, canoeists and sailors, the Helmholtz Center for Ocean Research and the Kiel Institute for the World Economy. When you hear locals talking about the Kiellinie, they are talking about the city's harbor promenade.
            A highlight here every year is the Kiel Week. The annual sailing regatta is embedded in an international festival with stalls, stands and live music, including three million visitors.

                Kiel's beautiful promenade with a wonderful view of the Kiel Fjord has been hidden behind construction fences for years because the sheet pile walls are dilapidated. Construction work is now underway on Kiel's best side. But it remains uncertain when we will be able to enjoy a magical view of both the water and the Kiellinie again 😔...

                    Harbor promenade
                    When you hear locals talking about the Kiellinie (formerly Hindenburgufer), they are talking about the city's harbor promenade. Located in the Düsternbrook district, it begins directly behind the Ostseekai and ends at the Blücherbrücke, the berth of the Gorch Fock.
                    The Kiellinie is lined on the land side by a row of boathouses belonging to rowing clubs, canoeists and sailors and the Leibniz Institute of Marine Sciences at the University of Kiel. This promenade is particularly popular because of its liveliness and the very good view of the eastern shore. On the other side of the Kiel Fjord, you can see the large cranes of the Howaldtswerke-Deutsche Werft GmbH (HDW), which are considered Kiel's landmark, from afar.
                    There is a lot going on here every year during Kiel Week. The annual sailing regatta has now developed into the world's largest sailing event.
