The route of the RuhrtalRadweg is known for its varied nature, which ranges from asphalted cycle paths off the main roads to forest and gravel paths. About 30 percent of the route leads over less paved paths, which makes the journey adventurous and interesting. Nevertheless, the path is well signposted throughout, so that even detours due to construction sites can be easily navigated.
