The name is derived from “Hintere Burg”. The original location was probably in the Pahenwinkel area, opposite the riding hall near the Brucht.
Asseburg-Falkenstein-Rothkirch family
By marrying into the Knights of Brakel family, a descendant of the von der Asseburg family, which has its ancestral home on the Asse, a ridge near Wolfenbüttel, came into possession of the Hinnenburg estate in the 13th century.
Around 1900 the name of the von Bocholtz family from Rhineland was added. And in the second half of the 20th century, a descendant of Falkenstein-Rothkirch was adopted by Count Busso, who converted to the Catholic faith.
