Also known as the "convent of San Giovanni in Lamis" it stands at the foot of Mount Celano (871 m). The sanctuary was probably founded by the Lombards and is today the destination of numerous pilgrimages.

You can visit the church with altar and wooden statue of St. Matthew the Apostle where you can admire the wonderful wooden "Choir". Also noteworthy is the Franciscan "BiblioLab".

The Sanctuary of San Matteo, located on the slopes of Monte Celano at 870 m, near San Marco in Lamis dates back to the year 1007, but we have news of its foundation even in the Lombard period. It is of great historical and religious importance, linked to the pilgrims going to the sanctuary of the Archangel Michael in Monte Sant'Angelo.
