The Martinswand is a striking, approximately 600-meter-high rock face on the southern edge of the Inn Valley near Zirl, west of Innsbruck. It rises steeply above the Inn River and is particularly visible from the Inn Valley Cycle Path. The face is best known for the Kaiser-Max-Grotte (Emperor Max Grotto), where, according to legend, Emperor Maximilian I was trapped during a hunt.

Today, the Martinswand is a popular destination for climbers, with numerous routes of varying difficulty. Cyclists on the Inn Valley Cycle Path enjoy an impressive section here with spectacular views of the rock face, the Inn River, and the surrounding mountains. An information board in Zirl provides historical background to the legend, and several rest areas along the trail invite you to linger.
