The pilgrimage church was built at a time when the Gothic style was coming to an end and the Baroque style was in its infancy, as can be seen from the exterior. The prominent tower in front of it to the west has a square floor plan and a peculiarly shaped baroque one
double hood. Inside, the Gothic net ribs do not have a supporting function, but only a decorative one.
The magnificent high altar is dedicated to St. Ulrich. 1977 was at
Renovation work a moldered oak tree with the inscription: "Eichreis des HL. Ulrich 1581”, a relic that comes from the miracle of the figure of St. Ulrich in Thann. A stone slab in front of the chancel marks this spot and, with the year 1581, reminds us of the proven origin of the pilgrimage. A picture cycle from 1762 tells the legend of the pilgrimage of Thann in five panels surrounded by rococo frames.
The pilgrimage legend of Thann:
A farmer fells an oak tree on which the picture of Ulrich hangs because it casts shadows on his field. Immediately he goes blind. Only when he built a wooden chapel over the oak trunk did he regain his "former face". An important pilgrimage then developed, so that the Hofmarksherr had the current stone church built.
votive tablets:
Two other votive plaques on the south wall of the nave are of local interest: on the one hand the fire in the Hofmark Haag from 1687, on the other hand the parish of Zolling became engaged because of a devastating plague of mice in the spring of 1851.
The high altar:
The magnificent high altar shows St. Bishop Ulrich in the middle of the battle against the Hungarians on the Lechfeld. To the left and right of it, based on a winged altar, are two narrow altarpieces in beautiful frames, on which St. Sebastian and St. Rochus are shown. Below the main image is a fine rococo shrine with the miraculous image, a small, clothed Ulrich figurine. The left side altar is St. Maria, the right one to St. Dedicated to Sebastian. On the altar table are two worth seeing, baroque half figures, St. Wolfgang and St. Augustine.
