Octagon, dome and pointed arcades! The ticket hall turns the station, which opened in 1928, into a transport temple. The station forecourt is simultaneously a public meeting place, transport hub and business center. An underpass connects it to the ferry landing. This means that the station is perfectly able to cope with the mass excursion traffic to Wannsee even on hot summer days.

The Wannsee train station serves primarily as a regional and S-Bahn station in the south-west of Berlin. Since Berlin's main train station went into operation in May 2006, there has only been one Intercity daily connection to Cottbus or Norddeich Mole (once a day). A night train to Munich also stops in Wannsee. There are also a few individual trains, such as a regional express once a day between Potsdam Hbf and Szczecin Główny (Stettin) and the Harz-Berlin-Express from Transdev Sachsen-Anhalt to the Harz Mountains.

The Berlin-Wannsee train station is located in the Wannsee district of Berlin near the Großer Wannsee and is an important transport hub. It is located in the southwest of Berlin in the Steglitz-Zehlendorf district at an intersection of the Wannseebahn and the Berlin-Blankenheim railway (Wetzlarer Bahn) near the Havel and the federal motorway 115 (AVUS).
