Built in 1914 for the royal master of ceremonies W. von Hardt, the Villa Kellermann represents a hundred years of German and Potsdam history. During the Weimar Republic, the house belonged to the Jewish banker Emil Wittenberg. It was expropriated by the National Socialists and the army command of the Wehrmacht moved into the villa. After 1945, the GDR Cultural Association took over the property, which was named after the writer Bernhard Kellermann. From 1990 to 2009, the Beletage was used as a restaurant, after which the villa was largely empty. With the reopening, a place has now emerged that is intended to give Potsdamers a warm welcome and be a meeting place for family get-togethers, enjoyable hours, evenings with friends and lavish celebrations.
