Also watch out for the canal tunnel about half way along. A stupid person (i.e. me) will try and cycle through the tunnel and then realise half way through that it is too dark to see where I'm going.
Easy enough to push the bike through and there is a rail to stop you falling into the canal. There is also a footpath around and over the top of the tunnel so it can be avoided completely.
Waterway trails are always nice and this one is no exception. Busy on Sundays and summer days, it's worth having a bell for this stretch. Obviously traffic-free, the only things you need to watch out for are low bridges and hikers. Gets muddy in winter so be prepared.
