The archipelago stretches off the north coast of Norway and includes around 80 islands. Across the Arctic Circle in the Norwegian province of Nordland, Lofoten sits in the rough waters of the Norwegian Sea. They are separated from the mainland by the mighty Vestfjorden. Lovely bays nestled between barren cliffs, colorful fishermen's houses scattered on rocky islets and the wild beauty of Norway make Lofoten a magnet for visitors. Turquoise water, white beaches and high cliffs beckon - and that in the far north. Lofoten offers a wide range of beaches, majestic mountains and deep fjords. The unique landscape and the unspoilt nature make the Norwegian archipelago a real paradise for explorers. Fishing and the Vikings have left their mark on this outpost.
Green, quiet, idyllic - the island of Vestvågøy is located in the central Lofoten archipelago. The landscape is picturesque and varied. The flat land is surrounded by mountain peaks up to 96 meters high. The main town and municipal administration seat is Leknes, which has around 2,700 inhabitants. The port welcomes its visitors with the typical red wooden houses.

It is worth taking this detour between Leknes and Gravdal. A nice route with little traffic.
