      St. Mathias Heirloom II
      The St. Mathias Erbstollen II had to be excavated in 1852 because its predecessor (St. Mathias Erbstollen) was no longer usable in places due to the high mountain pressure. From the Ruhr, he pushed into the area of the old gallery and made it accessible again. In addition to drainage, the tunnel also served to extract mined coal. The trades from St. Mathias Erbstollen drove the tunnel up to a length of 5,300 m into the mountains. Various shafts were connected with cross passages. In the area of the Alte Mann and Carl-Friedrich Erbstollen collieries in Weitmar, tunneling was stopped for the time being in 1840.
      From 1845, the trades at the Glücksburg colliery extended the tunnel at their own expense - under the name Egmont Erbstollen - first to the Anna shaft, and later to the Heintzmann shaft. At 9,100 m, the St. Mathias Erbstollen reached the second largest length of all tunnels in the Ruhr area. The Stollenmundloch is still preserved and was restored in 1984.

        St. Mathias Erbstollen was a colliery in Bochum. It was founded in 1773. The mouth hole was on Obernbaakstrasse. It is still preserved today. The Erbstollen ran parallel to Baaker Strasse directly through the Rauendahler jump.

        On February 24, 1869, St. Mathias Erbstollen, United Dickebaeckerbank & Anna Catharina and Johann Friedrich collieries were combined to form the Baaker Mulde colliery.
