Standing proud above the Welland Valley, Rockingham Castle is a grand, 1,000-year-old-fortress. Between the 11th and 14th centuries, it was a Royal castle, favoured thanks to the deer and boar hunting found in the nearby Rockingham Forest.
It passed to the Watson family in the late 15th century, who it has remained with ever since. This makes it one of the most continuously occupied homes in England. Visits to the castle and its gardens are ticketed.
