The Brecht-Weigel-Haus Buckow has been a memorial to Bertolt Brecht and Helene Weigel since 1977.
The artist couple had chosen the place as their summer residence since 1952. Bertolt Brecht wrote the "Buckow Elegies" here in 1953.
After Brecht's death in 1956, Helene Weigel continued to invite many guests here and used the property alongside her Berlin apartment for recreation until her death in 1971.
Every year since 1998, the memorial has organized a summer of literature with readings, song afternoons, concerts, talks, discussions, films and exhibitions.

An entrance pavilion is planned as a single-storey wooden body, the facades and roof surfaces of which are made of larch wood cladding. A total of almost 1.34 million euros is to be invested in the construction.
