A new nave of the church formerly dedicated to St. Nicholas was built from 1770 to 1773 under the direction of Joh. Martin Schuhknecht. The late Gothic west tower is crowned with a baroque hood. The large hall building with corner pilaster strips closes on three sides. The furnishings are mostly from the 18th century. The pulpit and the organ are on the altar side. The organ, built in 1834 by Bernhard Dreymann from Mainz, was overhauled in 1995. It is equipped with about 1700 whistles.

The original bronze bells were melted down during the war. New bells were cast in 1958. The walls are divided by colored windows. Some of these were destroyed in bomb attacks, and the two Luther windows were created from the remains in 1949. Missing colored windows were installed in 1995, and all windows were fitted with pre-glazing at the same time.
