The pumped hydro power plant was built by ČEZ. It consists of an upper and a lower tank. Its construction took place with breaks between 1978 and 1996, and its task is to ensure the stability of the electricity system. In 2005, it was voted by the public as the biggest wonder of the Czech Republic.
The upper reservoir is located at an altitude of 1350 m above sea level and boasts dimensions of 700 m x 300 m. The height difference between the upper and lower reservoir and the power of the equipment are among the largest in Central Europe. ( Mapy.cz )
