To the west of the town there has been a large switchgear and substation belonging to Amprion GmbH (originally RWE) since the 1950s, which is constantly being expanded. It operates at the voltage levels of 380, 220 and 110 kV and is the starting point for numerous high-voltage lines, such as the 380 kV line to Bürstadt.
