In mid-August 1915, the inhabitants of Potoka loaded their carts with what they had most valuable and together with their parish priest, who took the most valuable icons and liturgical vessels from the church, they left the village and went to Russia for running. Several days later, in the vicinity of Potoka, the Russian army fought a battle with the Germans, and the shells falling on the village destroyed the newly built church, and the fire destroyed all the homesteads.
