The Innerstetalsperre is a dam on the Innerste, which is located near Langelsheim and Wolfshagen in the Harz Mountains. It was built from 1963 to 1966 and belongs to the Harzwasserwerke. Their purpose is to provide drinking water, flood protection, increase low water levels and generate electricity. The average annual discharge from the Innerste Dam is 60 million m³.

The distinctive overflow tower is a special feature of the Innerste Reservoir dam. This huge concrete funnel prevents the water from the reservoir from overflowing over the dam. No other dam in the Harz Mountains has a flood protection facility constructed in this way.
If necessary, the water from the Innerste reservoir can be diverted to the neighboring Granetalsperre via an underground water tunnel. In this case, the water has to be pumped about 90 meters uphill, as the Granetalsperre is correspondingly higher.
Although the inner reservoir is used for drinking water, the water can also be used for sporting activities. On and around the lake you can swimming, sailing, fishing, windsurfing or rowing a boat. On the east bank there is also a campsite not far from the road.
An approximately seven kilometer long circular hiking / cycling path leads around the reservoir of the Innerste dam.
