The half-timbered building originally served as the village smithy. At times the building was also a residential building for families. After the local government reform in 1978, the half-timbered building was rebuilt and fundamentally restored. Since the merger of the municipalities of Viereth and Trunstadt in 1980, the historic building has served as the town hall.

This building is one of the most striking structures in the town and a popular subject for photographs. It is a beautiful half-timbered building, originally erected in 1604. The building was formerly owned by Michelsberg Abbey in Bamberg.
