The Drosselteich is located in the middle of the Kleinen Bruch and was created as an artificial body of water for fish farming. Another larger fish pond can be seen below the Drosselteich. Both bodies of water are fed by a branch of the Sternhofbach. With a lot of luck and with calm behaviour, the kingfisher can be observed here hunting from a hide.

For a long time, fish farming and pond farming played an important role in the barren Senne as an additional source of food and income. It was widespread throughout the Senne and was mainly operated by the landlords. In most cases, artificial ponds were dammed up, in which intensive carp farming was practiced. The carp were mainly used as a traditional Lenten dish. In the meantime, the importance of carp farming has declined sharply. Today, trout farming, which is practiced on many Senne streams, is the predominant form of fishing in the Senne.
