The tower is on the moor and is always open and free. At the top you will find binoculars (also free). This allows you to observe the surroundings very well. The view from the top is nice too. Next to the observation tower there are some information tables and two tables with couple benches. It's a very quiet and beautiful place.

The tower is named after the Wietzendorf conservationist Heinrich Eggers, who died in 1998. "There are many good reasons for this election," stated Mayor Uwe Wrieden from Egger's home community, who gave the laudatory speech. Growing up in and with nature from a young age, he taught himself a great deal about the local flora and fauna and worked passionately for the renaturation of the Great Moor until his death. Since 1982, together with Peter Höner, he has been leader of the multiple award-winning youth nature conservation group Wietzendorf e.V., he has inspired young people for nature conservation. The beginnings of moor waterlogging go back to Egger's initiative. He was not only a competent advisor, but also carried out many measures himself. As a diplomatic negotiating partner who, thanks to his level-headed and balanced manner, enjoyed a high level of trust among land users, Eggers was able to find a balance for nature conservation even when interests were conflicting. From 1980 he was also nature conservation officer and since 1992 water protection officer for the Wietzendorf municipality.
