Typical old mill at the center of the village of Colijnsplaat
The Oude Molen is the oldest and first stone mill in Noord Beveland. It is also one of the oldest windmills in Zeeland.
The construction dates from 1727. This mill used to be owned by the Princes of Orange as an old craft mill.
During the restoration in 1958, the Van Riet system was applied to the blades of the mill. This is a brake valve system, developed by windmill maker Marien van Riet from Goes. The system works by means of a spring system on the blades.
