The castle sits enthroned on a sandstone cliff high above the city and the Saale. The complex can be seen from afar and looks simply picturesque. You can also visit the castle, which is a museum with several permanent exhibitions, including a witch exhibition.

Bernburg Castle – also known as the “Crown of Anhalt” – is a Renaissance castle in Bernburg (Saale), Saxony-Anhalt. It stands on high sandstone cliffs above the eastern bank of the Saale, on the site of a former ford. The castle complex dates back to a medieval hilltop castle and is managed by the Saxony-Anhalt Cultural Foundation as owner.
