Judentor, high medieval gate tower of the inner fortification ring, curved, slated dome with lantern, 1721.
The Judentor has a rectangular floor plan with dimensions of 7.2 by 6.0 meters and a height of 33.8 meters. The wall thickness is 1.75 meters in the base level, 1.1 meters above. The pointed arch passage has a barrel vault, followed by three storeys. The gate opening on the inner side of the city is 3.7 meters wide and 5.0 meters high, the one on the outer side is 3.1 meters wide and 4.3 meters high.

Above the passage there is a pointed arch window on the east side and a Renaissance coat of arms on the west side depicting a multi-part shield with three helmets, which originally bore the Saxon-Coburg coat of arms. At the top there are two larger rectangular windows on each of the four sides of the tower.

The city gate, which was probably built in the early 13th century, was first mentioned in a document in 1321 as a Jewish gate. The gate tower was built at the flood limit of the Itz. The name Judentor goes back to the Jewish community in Coburg, which was located to the west of the Judentor in the 14th and 15th centuries. In the Coburg town book of 1394, the alley leading from the market to the Judentor was referred to as the Judengasse.
