The municipality of Sahagún, with about 2,400 inhabitants, is interesting for its historical heritage and for the large number of services it offers. That is why it is a good place to stop along the way and take the opportunity to buy food or spare parts that we may need.
The arch of San Benito is its most characteristic monumental element, although the churches of San Lorenzo and San Tirso, the sanctuary of La Peregrina and the ruins of the monastery of San Benito are also important.
In its Plaza Mayor there are several cafes, restaurants and bakeries.

In the streets we see some houses with brick and wooden structures, and others built with clay and straw. The local artistic heritage, the legacy of a thriving past, includes notable buildings such as the Monastery of San Benito el Real, of which only a neoclassical arch remains; the Mudejar churches of San Tirso and San Lorenzo, from the 12th and 13th centuries respectively; the Monastery of the Benedictines, today the site of the Sahagún Museum; and the sanctuary of Peregrina, in the suburbs.

A beautiful place on the Camino de Santiago with a hostel for pilgrims, shops, restaurants, bars and one of the few opticians on the Camino.
