Both the great pontiffs and the hierarchies of the church had always favored the Sanctuary. Julius III (1553) granted him indulgences for the reconstruction of the church. Urban VIII (1644), Innocent X (1652) and Pius VII (1802) were also granted indulgences. There is a manuscript in the archive that is one of the oldest sacramental books in Europe. Beginning in the fourteenth century, it ended in the early fifteenth century, when this type of parish inscription is usually from the sixteenth century.
