Beerbach was first mentioned in 1109.
It was the seat of a Reich ministerial family, to which the ceded tower hill castle Beerbach can also be assigned. The first branch church was built around 1300.
In the late Middle Ages, more and more Nuremberg citizens were landlords.
Beerbach has had its own parish since 1520.
At the time of the Counter-Reformation around 1628, the parish of Beerbach became a place of refuge for Reformed and Lutherans.
Until 1806 the places were part of the Neunhofer territory. Since 1806, Beerbach and Tauchersreuth have formed one community. In the course of local government reform in 1972, they were added to the district of Erlangen (from May 1, 1973 district of Erlangen-Höchstadt) and, after considerable protests from the population, on July 1, 1976, incorporated into the town of Lauf an der Pegnitz.

Near the spring, which is revered for its healing powers, there was initially a chapel dedicated to Saint Nicholas, which was destroyed in the city war of 1387–1389. According to a local legend, the plan was to build a new church on the old site, but angels carried the building materials away three times and over to the place where the current church building stands.[1]

In 1488, the church was expanded and designed as a square hall church with a late Gothic cross-ribbed vault. The choir contains frescoes from the 16th century depicting the Last Judgement and the four evangelists on the ceilings and walls, fragments of which can still be seen today. The late Gothic high altar dates back to Michael Wolgemut and his workshop around 1505.

In 1685, the church received its tower. Since 1520, Beerbach has formed its own parish, which in 1521 was one of the first in Bavaria to join the Reformation.[2]

Together with the rectory, parish hall and cemetery, the church forms a separate building group outside the village as a so-called field church
