The Waldhaus is a cozy hut that is perfect for a snack after the descent or the descent from the Upper Palatinate Tower.

The tip for a stopover: the Waldhaus or “Krambambuli Hut”. In 1997, the Waldhaus was used as a filming location for the film adaptation of “Krambambuli” (with Tobias Moretti). Built in 1831 as a forester’s lodge, the current Waldhaus was built in 1898. Since 2012, the Waldhaus has been an information point and small restaurant. There are charging options for e-bikes and a Bavaria Explorer stamp station at the game reserve. Opening times Friday 1:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m., Saturday 11:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m., Sunday and public holidays 10:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. waldhaus-steinwald.de

Is at the e.g. Riding the Rocky Trial from the top is the best place to take a break. The Waldhaus offers good service and fair prices. However, if you plan to go there, please check in advance if the Waldhaus has opened.
