That Schiphorst as early as the 2nd century BC Was inhabited, evidence of tool finds from the early Bronze Age. The tithe register named the place, inhabited by Wenden at the time, “Sciphorst” (literally: little ship grove), because the wood felled there was used for shipbuilding.

The community was originally a pure farming village with a centrally located village pond. In the major fires in 1892 and 1905, a total of nine farms burned down. In the course of the 20th century, the structure of Schiphorst gradually changed: The volunteer fire brigade was founded in 1928. Until 1967 you could go to the Schiphorster village school. The new building of the village community center in 1996 proves the great community feeling on site. Citizens also actively helped and created new space for the fire brigade at the same time.
