Marking the split towards either Panther Junction or Old Maverick Road, the ranger station at Maverick Junction lacks facilities, but helpful staff are happy to answer any questions. Heading south from here leads to miles of great gravel and the waters of the Rio Grande; east will take you to the main ranger station at Panther Junction, where camping permits can be purchased.
