A very interesting old town with well-preserved half-timbered houses and an appealing history. The pedestrian zone is very appealing and the beautiful street cafés are a real treat when the weather is nice. There are also guided tours of the city for those who are interested.

The bronze monument on the market square commemorates the three Herborn citizens Johann Heinrich Hoffmann, Ferdinand Nicodemus (with cane) and Albert Schumann (with hat).
Johann Heinrich Hoffmann (1830 - 1915) was the founder of the pump factory, the Volksbank, the gymnastics club and the history club.
Ferdinand Nicodemus (1854 - 1931) was legal counsel, auctioneer, fire brigade commander, editor and city councillor.
Albert Schumann (1862 - 1940) was the rector of the Volks- und Realschule and a patron of the choral societies.

The memorial shows the three men life-size. They stand together and talk, as they probably often did when they were alive.
The memorial was created on the initiative of the Herborn History Association. It was designed by Wolfgang and Christoph Oester and financed by the city of Herborn, companies, friends and citizens of the city. It was inaugurated on June 3, 2005.

The fountain on the market square dates from 1732.
It is fascinating to wander through the city. By bike you see little of the beauties of the wonderfully restored building fabric.
