While various maps show South Country Road as an unpaved shortcut between Highway 170 and Highway 118, this is West Texas, and roads can change. Halfway up this gravel lane, a rancher has blocked the way with "No Trespassing" signs, and we recommend you heed the warning, as we did. Folks can be pretty protective of private property in these parts.
