In the course of industrialization, water requirements increased at the end of the 19th century, so that many dams were built, especially in the Ore Mountains. So also the dams Neunzehnhain 1 and 2. On the latter you have a great view from here. Neunzehnhain 2 is mainly used for the drinking water supply in Chemnitz. Chemnitz residents can look forward to the fact that the water in the dam is considered the best in Saxony.
