It's a shame that a relatively large number of cars drive through the gate and on the narrow streets in the old town. Uncomfortable for drivers and pedestrians.

The Minster Gate was built in 1357 as the first of the city gates at the southern end of the same street and led to the highway to Bad Münstereifel. On the engraving from 1746 (Zülpich's medieval cityscape on a drawing of the early modern period), the Minster Gate with a similar vortor as the Bachtor, including the two round flank towers, is depicted. Due to the high volume of traffic, the city wall had to be removed at the gate. The Minster Gate was also heavily destroyed during the war. The crenellated corner guard, which had it as the only goal, were only restored in 1976. In earthworks to the 2012 completed roundabouts were found foundations of a double gate system. This confirmed the presentation on the engraving from 1746. Like the Kölntor, the Minster Gate is home to a carnival society, the Prinzengarde. The problem with the extension to the guard room was the staircase. It was soon agreed on the variant of a steel structure next to the tower, as it is visible today.
