Nice train station with regular trains to Helsingör and Hilleröd. This train station was a destination for many Jewish refugees from the greater Copenhagen area when the German occupation began deportations to concentration camps during WWII. From here, many fled to saving neutral Sweden. Do not forget.

The station is the terminus of the Gribskov line from Hillerød and the Hornbæk line from Helsingør. Both lines are operated by Lokaltog. There is continuous operation, so that the trains continue from one lane to the other and vice versa.

Gilleleje got its first station when the Gribskov line was extended from Græsted to Gilleleje in 1896. Gilleleje Station was a small building that functioned well until the Hornbæk Line was extended to Gilleleje in 1916.

The original station from 1896 was replaced by the current ifm building. the extension of the Hornbæk Line from Hornbæk-Gilleleje on 11 July 1916.

Many difficulties meant that the Gilleleje station could not be put into operation until January 16, 1918.
