Near the Barca d'Alva train station, there is a very popular hiking route that includes several tunnels. This route, known as the Ruta de los Túneles, connects La Fregeneda in Spain with Barca d'Alva in Portugal.
The route follows the old railway line and features 20 tunnels and several impressive bridges. The first tunnel, located about 100 metres from La Fregeneda station, is the longest, at approximately 1,600 metres in length. Along the route, you can enjoy spectacular views of the Águeda River Valley and the Duero River.
