Beautiful, excellently maintained baroque gate from the 18th century. As one of the last, clearly visible remains of the former Prussian fortress, it is worth an intensive look. Today's surroundings, the modern buildings and the busy streets create a striking contrast and make the gem shine all the brighter.

King's Gate (Brama Królewska) on the northern boundary of the old town, as part of the fortress of Stettin between 1725 and 1727 in the Baroque style according to Prussian plans. built by the master builder Gerhard Cornelius von Walrave. After the fortress was demolished in 1873, it was decided not to demolish it because of its historical value and artistic design.

One of the two (next to the Port Gate) remnants of the modern city fortifications, which were built in the years 1724-1740 on the site of the old city walls. In the Szczecin fortress, the gates had military and decorative functions. In the second half In the 19th century, the city fortifications were liquidated, leaving the gates as free-standing structures. The decorations of the gate are: royal symbols of King Frederick William I, warrior mythological figures and elements of arms, armours, shields and banners - they refer to the tradition of Roman triumphal processions. On the eastern wall there is a commemorative plaque dedicated to the Polish general Dezyder Chłapowski, who was imprisoned in the Szczecin fortress. The Wedel chocolate bar is located in the Royal Gate.
