The Evangelical Christ Church in Schlangenbad is the work of the architect Hofmann (1862-1933). The construction of the church was initially not considered necessary because a
Prayer room behind the spa hotel in a pavilion (today the park clinic).
was, but which proved to be too small over time. Before the First World War, the necessary new building was built in 1907 in the neo-Romanesque style.

For the design of the church, the location of the site was particularly important. Due to the mountain slope, it was created in a north-easterly direction. In order to protect the building from moisture from the mountain side, a passage was built over, which today serves as a hiking trail to the Wambacher mill. In front of the windows on the valley side there is a "figure of Christ" made of sandstone,
which the first pastor of the congregation donated. She gave the church the name "Christuskirche".

The visible side, however, remained the street-side hillside facade of the church. It is free and visible from afar. 🚴‍

A very hidden, very beautiful church; it's worth taking the climb up the hill and stopping briefly at the Christ Church; but be careful – the road around it is quite winding, and despite the church's elegance, you should watch where you're driving :-)
