The oldest part, the long building, was built as the widow's seat of Countess Magdalena von Hohenlohe (* 1547; † 1633, sister of Wilhelm von Oranien) in the years 1611 to 1616 according to plans by the master builder and Neuenstein bailiff Georg Kern from Forchtenberg.
